Packers HC clearly dislikes 'annoying' questions about Jordan Love's interceptions, but he must help QB solve the issue

Even if Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is refusing to address it, he can't deny quarterback Jordan Love seemingly has an interception problem.

Love has tossed 10 interceptions through seven starts, tied with Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith for the league lead. In Sunday's 24-14 home loss to Detroit, he threw a pick-six to safety Kerby Joseph, giving the Lions a 14-point lead before halftime.

When asked about Love's turnovers in his postgame news conference, LaFleur cut the reporter off, defending his QB.

"You guys are going to make — I understand, it's really annoying up here, though," he said, per Awful Announcing's X account. "He's fighting. He's competing. We know that we've gotta take care of the football. But I don't question anything about what he's trying to do. We just gotta do it better."

Love wasn't 100 percent against Detroit after suffering a groin injury in Week 8, which probably affected his play. He finished 23-of-39 passing for 273 yards and one interception.

Green Bay's offense struggled to find its groove in rainy weather conditions, going 1-of-4 in the red zone.

Love's interception rate is still alarming. According to Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports, he has seven consecutive games with a pick, the longest streak by a Packers QB since Brett Favre in 2006.

Love is responsible for most of his turnovers. Pro Football Focus shared he has 10 turnover-worthy plays, tied for the ninth most in the league (min. 82 dropbacks).

"It's definitely disappointing putting the ball in jeopardy way too many times," Love told the media Sunday. "Definitely something to clean up. I've talked about it week after week, so I have to learn from these mistakes and clean it up. But definitely, something that I'm making a big focus on going forward to find ways to take care of the ball better."

Love threw 11 interceptions in 17 regular-season games in 2023. Perhaps LaFleur and his staff should consider installing more concepts they used last season to help Love fix the issue.

The Packers are 6-3 and would have the NFC's last playoff spot if the season ended Monday. Love must play mistake-free for the rest of the season to help Green Bay stay in the hunt.
