Former NFL star rips Cowboys' Dak Prescott over missing games with hamstring injury

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones revealed on Tuesday that quarterback Dak Prescott will likely land on injured reserve and, thus, miss at least the team's next four games due to the hamstring injury Prescott picked up in Dallas' loss to the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday.

Later on Tuesday, former NFL wide receiver and current analyst James Jones ripped Prescott for presumably being unavailable for a handful of contests with the Cowboys at 3-5.

"Dak is quitting," James Jones directly said during Tuesday's edition of FS1's "The Facilityprogram, as shared by Reice Shipley of Awful Announcing. "...My man is quitting on these dudes. I’ve had a hamstring (injury) plenty of times. And I’m back the next week.

Jones added that "this is a hamstring for a quarterback who is not explosive at the quarterback spot. While Prescott has shown throughout his career that he can make plays with his legs, he thus far has rushed for just 54 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries this season.

Jones seemingly had no inside information regarding Prescott's injury as of Tuesday. For a piece published Wednesday morning, ESPN's Dan Graziano mentioned that "it's possiblePrescott could miss more than four games due to the setback. Depending on how many contests Dallas loses between this coming Sunday's matchup versus the 6-2 Philadelphia Eagles and the middle of December, the Cowboys theoretically could shut a healthy Prescott down before Christmas Day.

"Is it off the bone or something? Because there is no way you’re telling me you’re out four weeks with no answers," James Jones continued during the segment. "No fight, no nothing for a hamstring. And you’re a quarterback. There ain’t no way. Drop back and get the ball out. Your hamstring don’t have to be 100 percent at the quarterback spot. Dak Prescott is quitting on these boys. We know, we’ve been in the facility when dudes are hurt and really can’t go. And we know when dudes are messing around."

Graziano noted that the Cowboys plan to start Cooper Rush over 2021 first-round draft pick Trey Lance versus the Eagles. As of Wednesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook listed Dallas as a seven-point underdog for the upcoming NFC East showdown.
