The Washington Capitals are one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now and it's partly thanks to their captain Alexander Ovechkin.
Currently on one of his trademark heaters, Ovechkin scored his eighth goal of the season against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.

The tally that put Washington up 3-2 in the third period was Ovechkin's sixth goal in his last five games.
He is now just the third player in NHL history to log a five-game goal streak at age 39 or older. Brett Hull went seven games in 2003 and Johnny Bucyk went six games in 1974.
Centerman Dylan Strome also notched his 200th career assist on Ovechkin's 861st career goal.
The Russian superstar is now just 34 tallies from passing Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky for most all-time (894).
Ovechkin's marker ended up being the game-winner for Washington which has now won seven straight contests at home.
