Report: 'Scuffle' forces Auburn men's basketball plane to turn back

The No. 11 Auburn Tigers are 1-0 on the young college basketball season, but an early distraction has already surfaced.

Per ESPN's Jeff Borzello, a "scuffle" broke out between two players on the team's flight to Houston, Texas, on Friday.

In-flight audio obtained by WBRC's Jonathan Hardison allegedly shows a pilot telling air traffic controllers "we had two players that got into a physical altercation, clothes were ripped."

The plane was turned around and landed back in Auburn.

A replacement flight got the Tigers men's basketball team to its destination Friday night as it prepares to take on the No. 4 Houston Cougars on Saturday.

Per ESPN, Auburn University officials did not return requests for comment on the situation.

The Tigers opened their season with a dominant 94-43 win over the Vermont Catamounts.

They are looking to put their disappointing 2024 NCAA Tournament appearance far in the rearview mirror. Auburn was shockingly eliminated in the first round 78-76 by the Yale Bulldogs.
