Things may get emotional next week for Warriors fans.
The much-anticipated return of Klay Thompson to the Chase Center is set to go down this Tuesday, and the Warriors are preparing something special. Reports are now out on some of the Warriors plans to welcome the Bay Area legend back to his old home floor, and they are pulling out all the stops.

The Warriors will conduct a special captain's hat giveaway to every fan in attendance, an homage to Thompson's "Captain Klay" moniker he received after commuting to games and practice by boat during his time in Golden State. Thompson's former (and forever) splash brother, Stephen Curry, will also address Thompson and the crowd before the game.
Thompson's time in Golden State was nothing short of spectacular. Not only was he an essential part of helping the Warriors rise from a laughing-stock franchise to arguably the greatest dynasty ever, but he won over the hearts of everyone in Dub Nation along the way.
Klay ended his career with the Warriors as a four-time NBA champion, five-time All-Star and all-time fan favorite. Warriors fans will remember times such as when he signed a fan's toaster, sparking a legendary winning streak, just as fondly as when he broke the NBA record for most points in a quarter.

Although Thompson's time with the Warriors was filled with joy, laughter and tons of winning, the last couple of years for Klay in the Bay wasn't the storybook ending everyone was expecting. ESPN reported this summer that Thompson was "miserable" towards the end of his time in Golden State as he dealt with contract negotiations and his declining play.
This is why it is so important that the Warriors welcome back their beloved brother with something special.
"This might be the most emotional, impactful homecoming that will ever happen. Not just for the Warriors, but for anybody, given the history that he’s had," Warriors president and chief operating officer Brandon Schneider said, per The Mercury News. "We spent quite a bit of time thinking about the proper way to honor Klay Thompson."
Warriors fans and NBA fans alike should be in for a treat on Tuesday. Not only will the Warriors vs. Mavericks game hold some extra weight as the first game of the NBA Cup group stage, but emotions will be running high with the Warriors' salute to Captain Klay. Bring your tissues.
