All the focus surrounding Saturday's NASCAR Xfinity Series championship race may be on champion Justin Allgaier, but Riley Herbst deserves his fair share of commendation as well.

In the final ever Xfinity Series race for Stewart-Haas Racing, Herbst dominated, sweeping the stages and leading 167 of 213 laps.
That's not to say Herbst was unchallenged, however. When the white flag waved, it was Allgaier who held the race lead, with Herbst — whose car was billowing smoke due to a tire rub — chasing the champ.
In turn three, Herbst passed Allgaier, clearing him in turn four to take home his second win of 2024 and the third win of his Xfinity Series career.
The performance is especially important for Herbst, who does not have a ride confirmed for the 2025 season. He ends the 2024 Xfinity Series season in eighth place — his highest-ever finish in the Xfinity Series points standings.
"I've been telling people since we went to Daytona that if we got to Phoenix, we'd be the champion," Herbst told NBC Sports. "Everybody looked at me like I was crazy. That's gone now, we didn't make it, (the Championship Four) but I'm so proud of all these guys. Everybody at Stewart-Haas Racing, it was a really tough week last week. We had a lot of emotional people at the shop. This place was home for me for four years. It's built me to what I am now, and that's a winning racecar driver in the Xfinity Series. It's been a hell of a run these last four years."
"To all the men and women at Stewart-Haas Racing, I love you guys so much."
Herbst's win serves as consolation for SHR after Cole Custer finished eighth on Saturday and was unable to defend his 2023 Xfinity Series championship.
