Justin Herbert says Jim Harbaugh has Chargers playing 'free and fast'

The Los Angeles Chargers improved to 6-3 on Sunday afternoon after defeating the 2-7 Tennessee Titans at SoFi Stadium.

The Chargers played well on offense and defense against Tennessee and put together one of their more convincing wins of the season. Offensively, the Chargers didn't turn the ball over and were balanced with 164 yards passing and 145 yards rushing. Justin Herbert played with physicality and precision, going 14-of-18 for 164 yards with one passing touchdown along with 32 rushing yards and one rushing score. Defensively, the Chargers racked up an impressive seven sacks and limited the Titans to just 3-of-9 on third down.

The brand of football the Chargers are now playing with can be credited to head coach Jim Harbaugh, who's in his first year with the franchise, according to Herbert.

"He's the best. To have a guy like that leading the team, it shows out there," Herbert said. "You turn on the tape and everyone wants to play for him, everyone wants to fight for him."

The Chargers are currently the No. 6 seed in the AFC, good enough for a potential wild-card berth, but the road to the playoffs will get steeper in the games to come. The Chargers' next four matchups are against the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs all of whom have top-tier quarterbacks in Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Kirk Cousins and Patrick Mahomes. The good news for Los Angeles is it has the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL, a great quarterback in Herbert, a three-game winning streak and a head coach in Harbaugh whom Herbert thinks is a difference-maker.

"The guys are playing energetic, they're excited to be out there. They're having fun, I think that's the most important thing. He's done such a great job of preparing us and letting us go play free and fast out there," Herbert said. "To have a guy like that leading the charge, it's been awesome."

Harbaugh is coming off a national championship victory with the Michigan Wolverines, and it's fair to say he's well on his way to making a winner out of the Chargers like he did the Wolverines. The next step will be a win over Joe Burrow and the 4-6 Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11 on "Sunday Night Football."
