Draymond Green claims Klay Thompson 'ghosted' Stephen Curry before homecoming

Stephen Curry didn't give a planned speech honoring his former teammate Klay Thompson Tuesday night, and was quite fired up at game's end. Wednesday, Draymond Green provided the reason.

On the latest episode of "The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis," Green revealed that Thompson "ghosted" his fellow Splash Brother. Though Curry initially claimed he cancelled his planned remarks about Thompson because he needed to "lock-in" before the game against the Dallas Mavericks, Green said there was a different reason.

"He tried to check in with Klay about the speech, and Klay ghosted him," Green revealed. "So he got pissed!"

"That's why he was on 10!" Davis added.

Curry did seem to have an unusual amount of energy in the Warriors' 120-117 win. He yelled into the camera after his game-sealing three-pointer, which Kendra Andrews reported was, "You better stay here!" and other amateur lip-readers have interpreted as a more emphatic message to his old teammate, more akin to, "You wish you stayed here!"

After the emotions of the game subsided, Curry may have given a more diplomatic version of what he shouted in the heat of the moment.

It wasn't the first time Thompson has tried to distance himself from his old Warriors teammates. Earlier this week, Green told Davis that when he ran into Thompson and Kyrie Irving while working out, Thompson told Irving, "Don't be talking to the opps!" (opponents)

Because he knows Thompson, Green could tell that while the comment was playful, he knew Thompson also meant it. "It's Klay, so he's joking," Green said, "But he's definitely serious."

He was apparently serious enough that he repeated the "opps" comment when Green ran into Irving at the gym again the next day.

While Thompson was clearly trying to distance himself from his old team before his homecoming game, Green explained to reporters after Tuesday's game that communicating with Thompson in general can be "a one-sided thing."

So perhaps being "ghosted" is just part of normal communication with Klay Thompson. But for Curry, who used to read negative tweets at halftime to fire himself up, he'll use any perceived disrespect as motivation.

After Curry closed Tuesday's victory by scoring the Warriors' last 12 points, Thompson may have learned a valuable lesson about screening his friend's calls.
