In the biggest moment of his young NBA career, No. 5 pick Ronald Holland II had a chance to win a huge game by making a single free throw. He did not.

Holland, the Pistons' No. 5 pick in this year's draft, re-entered the game with 25 seconds to go and got a key defensive rebound, then drew a soft shooting foul on Giannis Antetokounmpo with one second remaining. The replay review confirmed the foul, and Holland had a chance to be a hero and send the reeling Milwaukee Bucks to a 3-9 record. Instead, he wilted under the pressure.
It was hard not to feel for the 19-year-old rookie. In front of a roaring Milwaukee crowd, Holland missed the first free throw well short, looking like he wanted to be anywhere but the free throw line at that moment. After the first miss, it seemed like a foregone conclusion he would miss the second. When he did, Cade Cunningham grabbed the rebound, but his tip-in at the buzzer missed.
Given new life, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks exploded in overtime. He hit a jumper, blocked a Jalen Duren dunk attempt and found Brook Lopez for a three-pointer.

Then he hit a triple of his own. After a stunning first half where the Greek Freak scored 28 of his team's 47 points, Antetokounmpo poured in 11 points in the five extra minutes to lock down a 127-120 win.
Antetokounmpo finished with 59 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, along with two steals and three blocks. Without Damian Lillard, out with a concussion, and Khris Middleton, Antetokounmpo put his team on his shoulders for a huge win.
As for the Pistons, it's the second heartbreaking loss in a close game. Last Wednesday, Holland made what looked like the game-winner with six seconds left against the Charlotte Hornets. But after the Pistons failed to box out, Brandon Miller put back a rebound at the buzzer for a 108-107 win.
It's another learning experience for the Pistons, who are greatly improved from last season, but obviously not accustomed to winning close games. Holland will think about this game for a long time. Probably while shooting many, many free throws in practice.
