Numbers that show how awful Florida State's season has been

Florida State is feeling the consequences of its awful 2024 season.

On Thursday, 2025 high school dual-threat quarterback recruit Trammell Jones joined a growing list of Seminoles recruits to decommit from the program.

His decision is understandable for anyone who's watched Florida State (1-9, 1-7 in ACC) this season, but it's still stunning for a team that was in the midst of a perfect regular season just 12 months ago.

Here are five numbers to illustrate Florida State's descent.

6

As ESPN's Eli Lederman noted, Jones is the sixth 2025 Seminoles recruit to decommit since the beginning of the regular season. He joins four-star defensive lineman Myron Charles, four-star edge-rusher Javion Hilson and four-star wide receivers Malik Clark, Daylan McCutcheon and CJ Wiley as players to renege on prior commitments.

2026 four-star linebacker Izayia Williams also pulled his commitment earlier in November.

The departures underscore the reputational hit Florida State has received for its precipitous fall from 13-1 a season ago.

Without clarity at either coordinator position, the Noles may find it difficult making inroads on the recruiting trail.

10

Florida State began the season ranked No. 10 in the Associated Press preseason poll and the favorite to win the ACC. Instead, it's headed toward a 10-loss season and a potential last-place conference finish.

The Noles should snap their six-game losing streak in Week 13 when they host FCS Charleston Southern (1-9), but they end the season playing Florida (4-5, 2-4 in SEC). The Gators have their own problems, but they feel quaint compared to what Florida State is going through.

ESPN's Football Power Index only gives Florida State a 21.6% chance of winning both of its remaining games, setting it up to complete one of the greatest collapses in college football history.

12

With Jones' defection, the Seminoles' 2025 class only has 12 recruits. They'll likely need to be aggressive in the transfer portal to field a competitive roster next season, but even that could be a challenge.

After squandering $12M this year, pocketbooks might be tighter until head coach Mike Norvell proves he can lead a rebuild.

In September, The Athletic's Bruce Feldman reported that the Seminoles had "an [name, image and likeness] team budget of around $12M."

People who pumped money into Florida State's NIL fund saw a poor return on investment this year. While the program's richest boosters have cash to burn, even they have limits.

42

Per 247 Sports, Florida State currently ranks 42nd in the country in 2025 high school recruiting team rankings. Among ACC teams, they rank ninth, trailing conference powers Miami (9-1, 5-1 ACC) and Clemson (7-2, 6-1 ACC), plus surging newcomer SMU (8-1, 5-0 ACC) and several other teams with stronger foundations than the Seminoles, including Georgia Tech (6-4, 4-3 ACC), Duke (7-3, 3-3 ACC), Syracuse (6-3, 3-3 ACC) and Pittsburgh (7-2, 3-2 ACC).

134

If you're wondering how a team goes from being snubbed for a College Football Playoff berth to arguably the worst power conference team over the course of a calendar year, look no further than Florida State's dismal offense.

The Seminoles rank 134th in the country (out of 134 FBS programs) in scoring offense, averaging 13.3 points per game.

Quarterbacks DJ Uiagalelei, Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek have combined to complete 48.7% of their pass attempts for 1,784 yards (5.9 yards per attempt), eight touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

The running game has been just as bad, with Florida State ranking 133rd in yards per carry (2.7).

However, Florida State's tragic offensive production comes with a silver lining. The Seminoles can only go up from here.
