Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels seemed like an Offensive Rookie of the Year lock until Bo Nix arrived.
In a 38-6 home victory over the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, the Denver Broncos QB had season highs in completion percentage (84.9 percent), yards passing (307) and touchdown passes (four).

Per NFL researcher Dante Koplowitz-Fleming, he became the first rookie in league history to complete at least 80 percent of his passes while throwing for at least 300 yards and four TDs.
"He's him," Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II said of Nix, via ESPN's Jeff Legwold. "I told him, 'Man you're trying to win MVP, not even looking like Offensive Rookie of the Year right now, it's looking like MVP. Just a testament to him. He puts the work in."
The No. 12 overall pick threw no TDs and four interceptions through his first three games. Since then, he's made significant strides, tossing 14 TDs and two picks in his last eight contests.
While Nix is on a hot streak, Daniels is in a cold spell. Over his past two games, the No. 2 overall pick registered one TD pass, one interception and a below-average 29.4 QBR. A nagging rib injury is probably impacting his performance.
"If Washington and Daniels continue to struggle while Nix and the Broncos continue to ascend, this becomes a good race more quickly than people realize," wrote ESPN NFL reporter Dan Graziano Monday. "Take the vote right now, and Daniels probably wins it — and deserves to win it. But the vote isn't for seven more weeks, and a lot can happen."
As of Monday, FanDuel Sportsbook gives Nix the second-best OROY odds (+400) behind Daniels (-600).
To leapfrog Daniels, Nix may need a signature moment. In an 18-15 Week 8 victory over the Bears, Daniels threw a winning 52-yard Hail Mary to wide receiver Noah Brown, which is hard to top.
However, the Broncos (6-5) are in a position to earn their first postseason berth since 2015. If Nix and company end the NFL's second-longest active playoff drought, that should make the OROY race even closer.
