Texas HC Steve Sarkisian refuses to discuss Quinn Ewers' NFL future

Steve Sarkisian has one heck of a starting quarterback in Quinn Ewers. The Texas Longhorns' head coach also has one heck of a backup quarterback in Arch Manning. Both were the No. 1 overall recruits in their respective classes.

Sarkisian and Texas should be fine either way because at 9-1 and ranked No. 3 in the country with two games left (against Kentucky and No. 15 Texas A&M), there's an extremely good chance Sarkisian isn't even thinking about the future of his program. They're almost a shoo-in for the College Football Playoff, so there's that to focus on in the here and now.

It is worth noting, though, that Ewers is eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft, and there is a real chance that he could be a first-round if everything breaks out the right way — especially if Texas makes a run through the CFP.

As such, that would make this weekend's game against Kentucky potentially Ewers' last home game in Austin.

Speaking to the media on Monday, though, Sarkisian wanted to have no part of that type of conversation.

“No idea,” Sarkisian said when asked if this was potentially Ewers' last time playing at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium (h/t On3).

He didn't get any further into it, either.

While Ewers is in his third season at Texas and fourth overall season as a college football player, he did use a redshirt season when he was with Ohio State, so he could play for Texas in 2025 if he chooses to.

That would be an interesting scenario for Texas considering 2025 was the season many tabbed to be the first of the Manning era, so perhaps those dynamics are why Sark doesn't want to get into it at the moment.

Ewers has dealt a bit with injury in his college career but he's without a doubt a playmaker. He's thrown for 1,898 yards and 21 touchdowns with just six interceptions this season for Texas.
