Giants players sound off after embarrassing loss: 'It's not the quarterback'

The New York Giants were humiliated on Sunday afternoon, losing 30-7 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to fall to 2-9 overall and a staggering 0-6 at home.

It was the Giants' first game since releasing quarterback Daniel Jones, and if nothing else, it showed that the quarterback is not the only problem here.

That was a point that rookie wide receiver quarterback Malik Nabers was quick to point out in his postgame media availability.

Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence, the team's best player and biggest star, referred to his frustration level as being at a "10" and called the team's effort on Sunday "soft."

You never want to hear your best players calling your performance "soft," nor do you want to hear players questioning the effort level of players on the team.

Given all of that and the results, it is not hard to see where all of this is leading for the Giants in the coming weeks and months.

They already moved on from the quarterback, and it seems as if head coach Brian Daboll has lost his locker room and roster. With the Giants winning just eight out of 28 games since the start of the 2023 season it seems that major changes are inevitable within the front office and coaching staff.

At this point, it is simply a matter of whether those changes happen in the coming weeks before the season ends, or if ownership waits until after the season.
