'SNF' takeaways: Bills blow out 49ers, clinch AFC East title

The San Francisco 49ers were no match for the Bills on a snowy night in Buffalo as the Bills dominated on their way to a 35-10 win on "Sunday Night Football."

The win also clinches the AFC East title for the Bills (10-2) after just 13 weeks of football.

Here are five takeaways from Sunday's snowy nightcap.

Bills QB Josh Allen has flawless performance

The snowy conditions did not keep Allen from taking it to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

Allen completed 13 of his 17 pass attempts for 148 yards and two TDs. Allen also had a receiving TD you have to see to believe. WR Amari Cooper lateraled the ball back to an alert Allen, who took it the rest of the way.

According to the Next Gen Stats, Allen is the fourth player in NFL history to have a receiving TD on a pass he threw.

Allen's performance further strengthens his MVP case. Once again, Allen continues to be efficient without throwing an interception. After another sensational performance, Allen has 27 TDs (six rushing, one receiving).

If Allen keeps this up, it could be his MVP to lose.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey suffers potential season-ending injury

Although McCaffrey looked more like his usual self early on "Sunday Night Football" with seven carries for 53 yards, he went down on his own with this slide.

When speaking to reporters after the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan said McCaffrey suffered a potentially season-ending PCL injury, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This continues what has been a rocky season for the star RB. McCaffrey was sidelined for the season's first eight games with bilateral Achilles tendinitis.

McCaffrey just cannot seem to catch a break when it comes to injuries.

Bills defense dominates

While Allen and the offense had a phenomenal performance in the snowy conditions, the defense was equally impressive.

The Bills defense forced three San Francisco turnovers and held the 49ers to just 1-for-3 in the red zone.

QB Brock Purdy was held to just 94 yards while San Francisco converted just three of its 10 third down attempts.

It was a dominant defensive showing for Buffalo in adverse weather conditions.

Bills have perfect night in red zone

Although the 49ers struggled to produce points, it was the complete opposite for the Bills.

Buffalo was a perfect 4-for-4 in the red zone. A big factor in the Bills' success was their run game. RB James Cook had 14 carries for 107 yards and a TD, while rookie Ray Davis had 11 carries for 63 yards and a TD.

Overall, it was a complete effort from Buffalo on its way to a division title.

49ers are in major trouble

It has not been going well for the 49ers. With Purdy returning to action after missing the Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers with a shoulder injury and the hope that McCaffrey was returning to form, it still looks bleak for San Francisco.

The 49ers fall to 5-7 with the loss to Buffalo and look to be out of answers. The only thing keeping the 49ers in the hunt is how tight the NFC West race is.

Even with another loss, the 49ers are only two games back in the division from the Seattle Seahawks (7-5) and one game back from the Arizona Cardinals (6-6) and Los Angeles Rams (6-6).

All four teams have displayed some flaws, so a postseason appearance is still not out of the question for San Francisco. It just keeps looking less likely that the 49ers are going to figure things out in time to get there.
