Michigan wins again, flips elite recruit away from Auburn

It has been a great few days for head coach Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines

Nothing tops beating Ohio State for the fourth time in a row, and that's a buzz Michigan will hang on to for quite some time. Still, a flip on the recruiting trail can cause quite a bit of excitement, and the Wolverines got some of that and more on Tuesday with the news that four-star defensive lineman Nate Marshall from Oak Park, Illinois, has flipped his commitment from Auburn to Michigan.

Interestingly enough, this is the second time Marshall has committed to Michigan.

He originally chose the Wolverines in April 2024, but that was a commitment that stood for just three months, when he committed to the Auburn Tigers. Michigan stayed on him throughout the process, though, and one has to wonder just how much each program's respective season has made an impact on his decision to flip back.

The Tigers finished 5-7 with a loss to Alabama in the Iron Bowl as the lasting image on their 2024 season. Hugh Freeze is 11-14 in his two seasons at Auburn, so there are some questions as to whether or not he'll be on the hot seat in 2025.

Meanwhile, Moore didn't have a great season at Michigan, but his Wolverines did finish 7-5 thanks to an upset win over No. 2 Ohio State in The Game. The Wolverines finished strong, so perhaps it's not a coincidence that Marshall flipped back to Ann Arbor just days later.

However it happened, Marshall is a big-time recruit for the Wolverines. At 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, he's ranked as the No. 8 defensive lineman in the 2025 class as well as the No. 55 recruit overall.
