Four-time All-Star retires from NBA after 16 seasons

Paul Millsap was never a superstar, but when he was on top of his game, he was one heck of a hard power forward to stop.

Millsap, 39, announced his retirement on Tuesday after 16 NBA seasons. He averaged 13.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in his over 1,085-game career, but those numbers pale in comparison two his four straight All-Star seasons with the Atlanta Hawks.

He averaged 17.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists from 2013-14 to 2016-17 and was part of a Hawks team that made the Eastern Conference finals in 2015.

Millsap played college ball at Louisiana Tech and was selected in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, where he spent seven seasons and made a name for himself as one of the NBA's most consistent big men.

He also played for the Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers, though his last game action came in 2021-22.
