LeBron James finally moves up on all-time three-pointers list

Early in the third quarter of Wednesday's 134-93 loss to the Miami Heat, LeBron James moved into seventh place on the NBA's all-time list of made three-pointers. It took him long enough.

James hit the 2,451st three-pointer of his career early in the third quarter, moving him past former teammate Kyle Korver and into seventh place on the all-time list. He's unlikely to pass sixth-place Klay Thompson, who is 80 triples ahead of James and increasing his lead this season (50 three-pointers to James' 41), but he could pass fifth-place Reggie Miller, who is 109 threes ahead of the soon-to-be 40-year-old James.

But it had to frustrate James that it took him so long. He tied Korver eight days ago, but it took four-and-a-half games for him to make No. 2,451. Over that stretch, James missed 20 straight attempts from behind the arc. Even Wednesday, he was only 1-for-4 from deep, but bad outside shooting has been a teamwide problem recently.

James is now shooting 34.2 percent on three-pointers this season, just slightly worse than his career average of 34.8 percent. That's one reason that while he's now seventh on the all-time list of made three-pointers, James is third on the all-time list of missed three-pointers with 4,595. That's likely as high as he'll rise, as the top two, James Harden and Steph Curry, are probably uncatchable.

At least he broke out of his shooting slump, with 29 points on 12-for-18 shooting. It's only his second 20-point effort in his last seven games. James did most of his damage inside, making eight of his field goals near the basket, but shot 4-for-10 outside of the paint.
