NHL insider Elliotte Friedman suggests the Bruins may be in a bidding war with the Pittsburgh Penguins for Canucks star forward Nils Hoglander.
Friedman revealed on his most recent "32 Thoughts" Podcast that Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas has shown a lot of interest in Vancouver Canucks youngster Nils Hoglander.
But Friedman also stated that there is a lot of other teams in that are showing interest in Hoglander.
What Friedman had to say about the situation:
"I think there are some teams that are very interested, I think Pittsburgh would be one of those teams, he's signed and Pittsburgh makes a lot of sense, you look at the players that Pittsburgh is collecting, Hoglander fits it."
There have been a lot of rumors suggesting that the Boston Bruins may be one of the teams also in the running to acquire Hoglander from the Vancouver Canucks.
Both Dubas and Don Sweeney have revealed that they want to make changes to their roster.
Sweeney stated before the Boston Bruins fired Jim Montgomery that the team is going to make more changes if they feel it's necessary, and the Bruins have been a very inconsistent team so far during the 2024-25 season.
Hoglander carries a $1.1 million cap hit, which would be easy for the Bruins to make room to slot him into their roster, and he would more than likely be cheap for the Bruins to acquire.
Hoglander hasn't had the best start to the season as he has just two goals and three assists for five points in 24 games for the Canucks, but he showed a lot of potential last year.
Hoglander has proved he can provide secondary scoring last year, and if the Bruins were to acquire him, he would be a good low-risk, high-reward player.
