Penn State gets big upset win at home over No. 8 Purdue

Despite shaky shooting in the second half, Penn State was able to hang on and knock off No. 8 Purdue on Thursday to improve to 8-1 on the season.

Penn State's 81-70 victory over Purdue was its first top-10 victory since 2019 when the Nittany Lions defeated Maryland.

Penn State led comfortably throughout the entirety of the game, including a lead as big as 27 at one point. The Nittany Lions had five players in double figures, led by Ace Baldwin Jr. who had 17.

Penn State excelled at the free throw line, shooting 28-32 (87.5%) and were once again led in that area by Baldwin who was 12-12.

Purdue will return home and host Maryland before a two-game stretch against No. 22 Texas A&M and No. 2 Auburn.

Penn State's next matchup will be Dec. 10 on the road against Rutgers.
