The Juan Soto sweepstakes continue to heat up with MLB's winter meetings set to start next week.

Soto has started the process of eliminating teams while the top contenders all have bids of at least $600 million for his services.

The New York Yankees are one of the teams that are trying to sign Soto, but according to insider Jon Heyman, they have not been told that they'd be given a chance to match any high offer.

"Just to clear up something I think might have been overplayed thanks to dreaded aggregation: The Yankees have NOT been told they will be given a last chance to match any high offer," Heyman said

Soto was with the Yankees during the 2024 season after he was traded from the San Diego Padres. He had been with the Padres for a season-and-a-half after the Washington Nationals dealt him since they started their rebuild.

Soto helped Washington win the World Series over the Houston Astros in 2019 before the Nationals began their process of rebuilding a few years later. He then helped the Yankees get to the World Series this year before they lost in five games to the Los Angeles Dodgers

He's the biggest free agent of this winter and will be paid as such. He's one of the best hitters in baseball, finishing this season with 41 home runs and 109 RBI off a .288 batting average.

In addition to the Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, and Los Angeles Dodgers are all very interested in Soto's services. They have the money to pay him and are ready to do it.
