NFL Week 14 winners, losers: Rams get huge win; Vikings don't miss Kirk Cousins

With most of the NFL's Week 14 schedule complete, it's time to check in with some of the biggest winners and losers from around the league.

Winners

Sam Darnold, quarterback, Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings welcomed former quarterback Kirk Cousins back to town on Sunday, and it was their new quarterback — Darnold — who ended up dominating in a 42-21 win. Darnold was incredible in the win, completing 22-of-28 passes for 347 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Tua Tagovailoa, quarterback, Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are trying to stay in the AFC playoff race and were able to steal a game from the New York Jets on Sunday. Tagovailoa had a huge game, completing 33-of-47 passes for 331 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. At 6-7, Miami needs to keep winning and get some help, but it at least has something to play for the next few weeks.

Saquon Barkley, running back, Philadelphia Eagles

It wasn't Barkley's most dominant game of the season, but he still rushed for 124 yards on 20 carries as he tries to chase down Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record.

Brock Purdy, quarterback, San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers injury situation on offense is getting ridiculous now that their top two running backs are out. That means Purdy is going to have to take command, and he did that on Sunday in a rout of the Chicago Bears. He went 20-for-25 for 325 yards (over 13 yards per attempt) and two touchdowns as the 49ers rolled to a 38-13 win.

Zach Charbonnet, running back, Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are on a roll and took control of the NFC West with a 30-18 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Charbonnet was the big star of Sunday's game, rushing for 134 yards on 22 carries, including a 51-yard run. He also scored two touchdowns in the win.

Puka Nacua, wide receiver, Los Angeles Rams

The Rams' 44-42 win over the Buffalo Bills might have been one of the best games of the season, and Nacua was one of the big difference-makers in the win.

He caught 12 passes (on 14 targets) for 162 yards and two touchdowns, including this one in the fourth quarter that ended up being the game-winning score.

Losers

Everyone who watched Jaguars-Titans

Listen, if you were tuning in to watch a Jaguars team that entered the day 2-10 play a Titans team that entered the day 3-9, you are either a football junkie, an incredibly loyal fan of either team or an absolute psycho that had nothing better to do with your Sunday. You were also treated to one of the worst football games of the season. The Jaguars won on the scoreboard, 10-6, but did anybody here really win?

Kirk Cousins, quarterback, Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are losing their grip on the NFC South and have now lost four games in a row.

Cousins is playing a gigantic role in that and has not thrown a single touchdown pass in any of those four losses. He has thrown eight interceptions in those games, including two more in Sunday's ugly loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Xavier Legette, wide receiver, Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have been so close in recent weeks and are giving good teams everything they can handle. They just keep falling just short.

Legette had a chance for a game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter in Philadelphia and simply could not haul it in.

Antonio Pierce, head coach, Las Vegas Raiders

Pierce did enough as an interim coach at the end of 2023 to get a look as the Raiders' full-time head coach.

But this 2024 season has been so bad it might be enough to send him out the door after just one season.

The quarterback situation is a mess, but the Raiders are 2-11, have lost nine games in a row and are not even close to being competitive.

New York football

The Jets' overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins has officially eliminated them from playoff contention and extended their playoff drought to 14 consecutive seasons, an almost unthinkable streak in a parity-driven league like the NFL.

The Giants, meanwhile, fell to 0-7 at home and 2-11 overall after losing to the New Orleans Saints.

Not only are the two teams combined 5-21 overall, they are 2-11 at home at MetLife Stadium.

(The Jets have both home wins.)

Arizona Cardinals' playoff chances

For most of the season, the Cardinals were one of the biggest surprise success stories in the NFL, but they are picking the wrong time of the year to play their worst football.

Quarterback Kyler Murray also picked the wrong time on Sunday to play one of his worst games of the season.

At 6-7, the Cardinals' playoff chances now appear to be completely over for the year. It still seems like a step forward this season.
