Report explains how Tom Brady could influence Raiders' QB plans

The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly leaning on one of the greatest quarterbacks in league history to find their next offensive signal-caller.

The Raiders are 2-11 and could be able to take one of the top QB prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Tankathon's projections, they'll have the No. 1 overall pick.

Raiders majority owner Mark Davis will likely value minority owner Tom Brady's opinion during the draft process. Brady — who played for the Patriots and Buccaneers for 23 seasons — won seven Super Bowls and was named to the NFL's 100th Anniversary All-Time Team in 2019.

"Mark will ask [Brady], 'What do you think?' and then that's what Mark thinks," a source inside the team told Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson in a piece published Monday. "What Tom says about quarterbacks, I'd bet you that's what goes. That's what I think will happen. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see. But I think who [Tom] likes, Mark likes. We'll see. It's gonna be a wild ride."

Davis indicated Brady would play a crucial role in selecting the team's next QB when the league approved him as a minority owner on Oct. 15.

Per NFL.com columnist Judy Battista, Davis said Brady can't play for the Raiders, but "he can help them select a QB in the future."

With that in mind, don't be stunned if the Raiders target Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, who ranks second in the country in TD passes (35 in 12 games).

Sanders and Brady seem to have a close relationship. They trained together in June 2020, and the 22-year-old signed an NIL deal with Brady's apparel brand in October 2022.

Sanders likely provides more upside than Raiders QBs Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and Desmond Ridder.

Minshew went 2-7 in nine starts before breaking his collarbone in Week 12 against the Broncos. O'Connell is 0-4 in four starts and was carted off the field after injuring his leg in the third quarter of Vegas' loss to the Buccaneers Sunday. ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed on Monday he suffered a bone bruise. Ridder, meanwhile, posted an 8-9 starting record in two seasons with the Falcons.

If Sanders is Brady's favorite QB, perhaps the Raiders should consider taking his advice and selecting him.
