After a pair of injuries derailed QB Conner Weigman's last two seasons at Texas A&M, the signal-caller has decided to take his talents elsewhere.
On Wednesday night, Weigman took to social media to confirm that he is transferring to Houston for the 2025 season.
I’m coming home.

While Weigman, the No. 27 overall recruit from the 2022 class, led Texas A&M to a 9-4 record in games he started and passed for 2,694 yards, 19 TDs and seven interceptions as an Aggie, injuries were a factor in his last two seasons.
His 2023 season came to an end due to a foot injury and he missed close to a month during the 2024 season with a sprain in his right throwing shoulder.
Although Weigman returned to the starting role, he was eventually benched in favor of freshman Marcel Reed. Reed passed for 1,572 yards, 12 TDs and four interceptions. His QBR (75.1) was 23rd in the country. Reed's dual-threat ability was also on full display as he rushed for 501 yards and six TDs.
While Texas A&M lost three of its last four games and Reed threw his only four interceptions all season in those games, he still accounted for multiple TDs in five games.
Reed was sacked 13 times during the season, which is something that needs to be improved on going forward. If Reed has time to operate, he has proved what he can do in the Aggies offense.
Weigman may have only passed for 819 yards, three TDs and five interceptions during the 2024 season, but his move to Houston could give the QB a fresh start for himself and a Houston program that just finished the 2024 season with a 4-8 record.
Sophomore Zeon Chriss, who was the Cougars starting QB, recently had surgery for an undisclosed reason. Chriss struggled with only four TDs and eight interceptions, so Weigman could be in line for the starting QB position if he can stay healthy.
Overall, this could be a win for both players and programs. Texas A&M gets a dual-threat QB in Reed after an impressive freshman season. After finishing the 2024 season with an offense that ranked 130th (out of 134 FBS teams) with 14 points per game, according to TeamRankings, the Texas native Weigman and top-ranked pocket passer from the 2022 class gets a change of scenery and a chance at redemption at Houston.
