After trailing 44-37 at halftime, Iowa State outscored Iowa by 16 points in the second half and propelled itself to an 89-80 victory.

Iowa State's Curtis Jones was the star of the night, as he had 23 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Joshua Jefferson had a near triple double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Dishon Jackson (12 points), Tamin Lipsey (11 points) and Nate Heise (10) were all in double figures for the Cyclones.

Six of the seven players for Iowa were in double figures. Owen Freeman was the leader of that group with 16 points.
Ladji Dembele scored 11 off of the bench on a perfect 4-4 shooting night. Josh Dix (14 points) and Peyton Sandfort (13 points) were the second and third highest scorers for the Hawkeyes.

The schedules for both teams ease up over the next two games. Iowa State will host Omaha and Morgan State in its next two games.
Iowa will host New Orleans and Utah.
