This city appears to be front-runner for NHL expansion

As whispers continue in the NHL about a possible expansion process, Quebec fans are watching.

It is known that there will eventually be an expansion; it really seems inevitable, and everyone wants to target Quebec, but it truly feels like Gary Bettman is looking in another direction.

In fact, in his latest article, Chris Johnston names two new smaller cities, and Quebec once again seems to be left aside.

One city seems to have already taken the lead.

Atlanta was represented at the NHL Board of Governors meeting

This is serious. See the passage in question:

"In fact, one of the two groups targeted (to bring hockey back) to the Atlanta area even had a representative on the ground, on Monday, to plant seeds with the current owners of the National Hockey League."

Don't be surprised if the Atlanta Thrashers return before the Quebec Nordiques. It really seems to be heading in that direction.

I find this unfortunate, and I really hoped to see the Quebec Nordiques return someday, but after the recent statement from Bill Daly, who is Bettman's right-hand man, I've really lowered my expectations.

Basically, he said that the NBA had a bit of an edge over the NHL, already being established in many U.S. markets.

Clearly, Bettman's goal is mostly to expand into American markets, not Canadian ones, unfortunately.

And you, do you still believe in the return of the Quebec Nordiques via expansion?

Do you think Bettman and Daly would agree to make it happen if the right group steps forward?
