It's going to take some time for Bill Belichick to get used to coaching college football. He took the job at North Carolina, though, because he presumably believes he can build a championship team — much like he did with the New England Patriots.
One of the things Belichick will have to get used to is the wild world of the college football recruiting trail, and it's even more wild in 2024 due to million-dollar NIL deals and the never-closed transfer portal.
Belichick is used to players being paid, but there were always agents and contracts involved. How's he going to deal with recruiting to UNC — not known for its football program — while trying to keep the players he's brought in from transferring?
That will be one of the greatest questions to be answered in this saga, but in the meantime, maybe he should consider putting one of his old star players on the payroll at UNC.
In fact, Rob Gronkowski lobbied UNC's new head coach for money himself in a sideline interview discussing Belichick's new gig:
"He's going to do an awesome job coaching those young bucks at UNC."

Imagine Gronkowski and other former Patriots on the UNC sidelines in 2025, helping pump up the players, crowd and of course ... the interested recruits.
Belichick should have deep pockets at UNC, so maybe it would make sense to throw some money Gronk's way and send him out on the recruiting trail.
