Major domino falls in lawsuit against NASCAR

23XI Racing, Front Row Motorsports will race as chartered teams in 2025 while pursuing NASCAR lawsuit

A major domino has fallen in 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports' antitrust case against NASCAR.

On Wednesday, Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass reported that both 23XI and FRM will run their respective Cup Series cars as chartered entries during the 2025 season. The teams also attained the transfer of Stewart-Haas Racing charters purchased by the two organizations via a preliminary injunction. According to Pockrass, NASCAR can appeal the ruling if it chooses to.

It was previously thought that 23XI and Front Row would have to run their respective three-car operations as unchartered entries. This would lead to the teams collecting significantly less prize money than their chartered counterparts and would also put the teams in danger of not qualifying for races that more than 40 entrants attempted to qualify for, such as the season-opening Daytona 500.

This development, however, gives 23XI and Front Row the ability to race as normal while still pursuing the lawsuit. The teams are now able to sign the charter agreement presented by NASCAR in September. The charters purchased from the now-closed Stewart-Haas Racing by 23XI and Front Row are now able to be purchased by the respective organizations.

Both 23XI and Front Row will field three cars during the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
