The East Carolina Pirates won the Military Bowl on Saturday, 26-21, over North Carolina State thanks to an 86-yard touchdown run by Rahjai Harris late in the fourth quarter.
That is not what anybody is going to remember from the game.
The lasting memory of this game is going to be the gigantic brawl that broke out in the final minute of regulation, resulting in eight ejections and an official who ended up getting bloodied under his eye during the fight.

North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren issued an apology after the game, saying the brawl resulted from his team's poor reaction to something that happened to one of their players. He did not go into detail about what that incident was.

What is intriguing about all of this is that East Carolina and North Carolina State are scheduled to open the 2025 season against each other.
It is almost certain to be some sort of carryover from this and add a little more spark to an early-season non-conference game that likely would not have much buzz around it.
These smaller bowls may not have the big-name appeal or importance of the playoff games or the elite bowl games, but there is still a lot of passion and emotion that takes place.
