Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Kenny Pickett is fulfilling a lifelong dream in Sunday's home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Pickett is filling in for starting QB Jalen Hurts, who's out with a concussion. The New Jersey native grew up an Eagles fan and said his younger self would be thrilled if someone told him he would be starting for his favorite team.
"He would be pumped up man," Pickett said Friday, per Brandon Longo of WPVI-TV in Philadelphia. "He would be pumped up. I have a lot of family coming. It's a surreal feeling, you know, having this opportunity. Doing everything I can to be prepared and ready for it, I'm excited."
He probably made his family proud when he threw a touchdown midway through the second quarter. On a 3rd-and-12, the former first-round pick fired a 22-yard strike to wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

The Eagles acquired Pickett in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers in March. If he continues to make the most of his opportunity, he should remain as QB2 for his childhood team.
