Even though the trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators is still recent, it's turning out to be a major win for Kent Hughes. You don't need to be the world's biggest expert to see that Alexandre Carrier is clearly superior to Justin Barron.
"Why did the Predators make this trade? (involving Barron and Carrier)"Greg Lanctot
On BPM Sports, TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie revisited this trade and made an interesting statement.
Barry Trotz fumbled the Justin Barron trade and did not receive accurate information about the defenseman from the Montreal Canadiens
The TVA Sports journalist had a lot to say on the topic.
"There are serious questions to ask about the professional scouts in that organization. [..] We gave Justin Barron about a hundred games with the Canadiens, we evaluated him. Now, he wants to become a defensive defenseman. He arrives in Nashville, and he's -3 in under seven minutes of ice time.
"Someone over there clearly thought it was a good idea to trade Alexandre Carrier for Justin Barron. That means the evaluation they made of Justin Barron wasn't good! The evaluations on the desk of the Nashville Predators, regarding Justin Barron, are wrong."
The Predators got fooled. They had poor analysis and bad information on Justin Barron before finalizing the trade.
At this point, hats off to Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens management.
Alexandre Carrier is truly a solid player for the team and has a direct impact on the success of Martin St. Louis' squad.
