As his career average of 6.4 assists per game suggests, Stephen Curry has never been a traditional point guard. Yet, he still throws his fair share of dimes and has five double-digit assists games this season.
That's why the box scores from the last two Warriors losses are eyepopping. For the first time in his storied career, Curry failed to record an assist in consecutive games, per Real Sports and SportRadar.

In fairness to Curry, he generated a lot of quality offense in both losses but his teammates couldn't make their shots. Against the Kings on Sunday, Curry shot 4-of-8 from three while his teammates went 8-of-27. Similarly, on Tuesday, he made 8-of-17 from deep while his teammates shot a paltry 6-of-33 from beyond the arc.
According to Second Spectrum tracking data, Curry created 4.0 potential assists while averaging 39.0 passes in the two games. However, his teammates couldn't convert on several wide-open looks.
In Curry's assist-less games, the Warriors averaged only 25.0 assists — a drastic drop for a team that is eighth in the league in dimes with 28.6 a game. It's not a surprise that the Warriors were held to under 100 points in both losses, another aberration for a team that averages 111.8 points per night.
The back-to-back losses triggered strong comments from head coach Steve Kerr, who believes his team is suffering "a crisis of confidence." Curry, too, painted a bleak picture by suggesting that he has "no idea" how his team can get out of its ongoing offensive slump.

Curry is averaging his fewest points (22.8) and minutes (31.2) since the 2011-12 campaign (not including the injured 2019-20 season). The drop in production can be attributed to the Warriors playing him below 30 minutes through the first 25 games. With the Warriors reverting to more traditional rotations, Curry's numbers have seen a significant uptick —29.0 points per game through the first week of 2025.
