On the same day that Dianna Russini of The Athletic shared that Fox lead in-game NFL analyst Tom Brady has a "significant" role as a minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders, media personality David Samson directly said that "Brady is running that team right now." Samson added that "Brady will not be with Fox next season" and will instead "be full-time in the Raiders front office running that team."
It appears Samson's timeline may have been a bit off.
"Now, how involved will Brady be day-to-day? That much I don’t know," NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated said about TB12's working relationship with the Raiders for a mailbag published on Thursday. "He was very invested in his broadcasting job this year, and his work there will make it challenging to be involved in the coaching search over the coming weeks. I think at some point down the line, he’ll want to be a bigger part of running the team, but I don’t get the sense from people who know him that he’s ready to dive all the way in yet."
Brady is completing the first season of a 10-year, $375M deal with Fox and seemingly hasn't yet gotten into any trouble related to calling games while serving as a minority owner of a franchise even though he must follow strict guidelines regarding what he can do ahead of and during broadcasts.
With that said, media insider Richard Deitsch of The Athletic has suggested on numerous occasions from this past summer through late December that Brady will leave the booth for the Raiders sooner rather than later.
Per Sam Neumann of Awful Announcing, well-known sports talk radio host Dan Patrick said this week he believes Brady will be "one-and-done" with Fox and will "be more involved with the Raiders" by the time the 2025 NFL season begins.
Brady reportedly is assisting the Raiders in their search for a new head coach, but it appears former teammate Mike Vrabel could reject Las Vegas to accept the New England Patriots' opening as soon as Thursday.
There is currently no sign that NFL owners will force Brady to choose between Fox and the Raiders this offseason, and it sounds like he wants to continue working for the network through at least January 2026.
