No. 5 Texas women make statement with 44-point win over No. 18 Alabama

No. 5 Texas was dominant on both ends of the floor Thursday, as they came away with an 84-40 blowout victory over No. 18 Alabama.

The Longhorns improved to 16-1 with the win and stayed unbeaten in SEC play. The loss for Alabama was just its second of the season and its first in the SEC.

It was a poor shooting night for the Crimson Tide, as they went 15-56 (26.8%) from the field and 4-23 (17.4%) from three. Alabama committed 20 turnovers, nine of those coming from point guard Zaay Green.

Karly Weathers was the leading scorer for Alabama with just seven points. She was one of two players for the Crimson Tide with a shooting percentage above 40%.

Madison Booker was a star for Texas, scoring 21 points on 8-10 shooting from the field. She added five rebounds and two assists.

Taylor Jones finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds off the bench. It is her fifth double-double of the season and fourth in her last seven games.

Alabama will travel to Oxford for a game against Ole Miss before returning home to host No. 2 South Carolina.

Texas will get a look at South Carolina before next week as they travel to Columbia to play the Gamecocks on Sunday.
