While the Washington Capitals already seemed stacked with veteran scoring talent, the team's farm system is proving it's already primed with the weapons of the future.
Prospect Ethen Frank scored his first NHL goal Saturday against the Nashville Predators, roughly 24 hours after logging his first career point (an assist) against the Montreal Canadiens on Friday.
The 26-year-old, having been called up from the AHL's Hershey Bears just two days ago, put a go-ahead score past goaltender Juuse Saros in the third period.

Frank replaced the struggling Ivan Miroshnichenko, who was sent back to Hershey the same day of the Bears star's arrival.
A much-anticipated talent in Washington's prospect pool, Frank was clocked as the fastest skater in AHL history during last season's All-Star Game Skills Challenge.
His 12.915-second lap was faster than any NHL skater has recorded in league history.
In 2023, Ethen Frank set a record in the AHL's Fastest Skater event with a time of 12.915 seconds.

No NHL skater has ever clocked a sub-13 second full lap before.

Frank has tallied 28 points (20 goals, eight assists) in 35 games at the AHL level this season, certainly earning his shot in the big leagues.
Now starting his NHL career at a point-per-game pace, he'll likely have earned a spot in the starting lineup for some time to come this year.
