Lakers, Clippers expected to return home this week after postponements

After postponements of games due to the ongoing wildfire situation in Los Angeles, the NBA informed the Lakers and Clippers that they can resume their regularly scheduled home games starting on Monday.

The Lakers will be hosting the San Antonio Spurs at Crypto.com Arena while the Clippers will be hosting the Miami Heat at the Intuit Dome.

Their Saturday games against the Spurs (vs. Lakers) and Charlotte Hornets (vs. Clippers) were postponed as the city and area continues to deal with the devastation from various wildfires in the area.

The Lakers also postponed their Thursday game against the Hornets.

Along with the Clippers and Lakers postponements, the NFL also moved Monday night's playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings to Glendale, Arizona.

The NBA is donating $1M for relief, while the Lakers are hosting a donation drive and asking fans to bring unused, unopened food items.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick said during the week that he lost the home he and his family were renting in the fires.

"I was not prepared for what I saw," Redick said this past week. "It's complete devastation and destruction. I had to go a kind of a different way to the house, but I went through most of the Village and it's all gone. And I don't think you can ever prepare yourself for something like that. Our home, our home is gone."

He went on to say that he and his family will be okay and that they are going to do everything they can to help the people in the area that might not be alright.

He also said it is their job to provide hope and a temporary escape for people in the area.

The Lakers also host the Heat this week, while the Clippers will also host the Brooklyn Nets.
