Tom Brady joining the Las Vegas Raiders as the minority owner could be the best thing that happened to the franchise in a long time.
Season after season, the Raiders finished below .500. Since 2002, the Raiders only had two winning seasons (12-4 in 2016 and 10-7 in 2021).
Raiders coaches have not lasted for more than three seasons since Jack Del Rio was fired in 2017.
There have been four different coaches since Del Rio was fired.
Maybe owner Mark Davis had enough of making decisions on his own and needed help, thus Brady buying 5% of the Raiders' ownership. Owners approved it in 2024.
“I'm eager to contribute to the organization in any way I can, honoring the Raiders' rich tradition while finding every possible opportunity to improve our offering to fans... and most importantly, WIN football games,” Brady posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
No matter where Brady went, wins followed him whether it was with the New England Patriots or Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Now Brady will try to bring his success to the Silver and Black in hopes of turning around the struggling Raiders.
Brady already has his fingerprints in the Raiders' doings since the season ended at 4-13.
According to Las Vegas Review Journal's Vincent Bonsignore, Davis would have given former head coach Antonio Pierce and former general manager Tom Telesco another go next season, but it appears Brady instructed Davis that a "reset" was needed, and thus both are now gone.
Now begins the search for a head coach and a general manager.
Brady reportedly convinced Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to listen to what he has to say about the Raiders, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported Monday.
Davis is already on record saying Brady has a say-so in the daily operations of the Raiders despite the minority ownership he has with the team.
Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million contract, but it wouldn't be surprising Brady's swan song with Fox will be Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
He will call the game with Kevin Burkhardt. There, he could say at the end of the broadcast he's leaving the network to help the Raiders avoid any conflict of interest with the network.
Brady joining the Raiders is the best for the franchise. It'll be interesting to see who becomes the general manager and head coach because, after all, Brady's fingerprints will be over it.
Free agency, too.
Let's see if his winning ways reach the Raiders.
