Ja Morant made a spectacular layup to tie Monday's game late in the fourth quarter. But a series of mistakes helped cost his team the game in the end.

Morant finished with 29 points, but his basket with 4:16 left was his last points of the game. He did have a chance at more but missed both of his free throws with six seconds left. One possession before that, Morant turned the ball over. He also got the ball stolen by former teammate Dillon Brooks, and the Houston Rockets beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 120-118.
It wasn't just Morant that led to the loss. Memphis let Houston's Jalen Green score 42 points on 13-of-18 shooting, better than 72 percent. Thanks in no small part to Green going 5-of-6 from behind the arc, the Rockets shot 51.2 percent from three-point range. For the season, Memphis has held opponents to only 34.4 shooting from three, fourth in the NBA, but that trend fell apart Monday night.

Morant is usually very reliable late. He single-handedly brought the Grizzlies a comeback win Saturday night with his last-minute heroics. Morant had 11 fourth-quarter points, including a 38-footer from a step inside half-court.

But he got a little too sloppy at the end. And against a ferocious defensive team like the Rockets, that cost Memphis the game.
