Karl-Anthony Towns was not playing on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers, but he still managed to draw attention with his choice of attire.
The New York Knicks star Towns was sidelined against the 76ers due to a wrist injury. On the bench, Towns, who has made it known in the past that he is a big fan of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, decided to rock a green Eagles-themed sweater.

Knicks co-star Jalen Brunson, himself a fan of the Eagles as well, expressed his approval of Towns’ gear.

Still though, Towns’ Eagles sweater wasn’t exactly popular with everybody, especially with Knicks fans. Many questioned why Towns was representing the opposing city during a road game (Wednesday’s contest was played at Philly’s Wells Fargo Center). While the Eagles are in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs right now, they are also huge NFC East rivals with a New York team in the Giants (who went 3-14 this year and missed the playoffs).
Towns may have taken some of the feedback to heart because he changed out of the sweater at halftime. For the second half of the game, Towns went with the much safer choice of a Knicks polo shirt.

The four-time NBA All-Star Towns is a native of Edison, N.J., which is less than 70 miles away from Philadelphia. But Towns’ Eagles fandom puts him directly at odds with New York City, a community that is especially irked now by who specifically has been succeeding with the Eagles this season.
