In a move that could shock the soccer world, Neymar could be on his way to the MLS.
As reported by ESPN, Neymar is in talks with three MLS teams as he begins to look for the next step in his career. The attacker is out of contract with Al Hilal this summer and will be a free transfer for any club interested in his signing.
The report names the Chicago Fire as a club holding a strong interest, while the other two teams remain unnamed.
Many believe Neymar could end up at Inter Miami, reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, however, head coach Javier Mascherano has ruled out any potential signing of the Brazilian due to MLS restrictions.
Neymar, now 32-years-old, has had a tough time at Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 for a staggering $97.6 million. He suffered a torn ACL in October of 2023, ending his season after just five games.
He finally made his return to the field this past fall but suffered a hamstring injury after two games. Neymar has played just seven games and registered one goal during his time in Saudi Arabia.
His contract at Al Hilal runs through June and he can begin negotiating with a new team ahead of a potential summer transfer.
All of that would due little to dampen excitement should the legend make a move to the United States. Neymar is responsible for 150 career goals and 85 assists and has earned extensive hardware for both individual and team success.
The Brazilian's MLS debut would undoubtedly be one of the most highly anticipated moments in league history if it were to occur.
