The Purdue Boilermakers hadn't won a game against a ranked opponent since November 29, 2024. That all went away on Saturday as they went on the road to Eugene and knocked off No. 13 Oregon, 65-58.

Knocking off a ranked opponent for the first time in nearly two months certainly had to feel good for Matt Painter's squad. A loss to Oregon would've started a buzz as to whether or not Purdue was a real threat in the Big Ten this season.
Purdue struggled to score from the field, shooting just 33.9% from the field and 16.7% from three-point range. The difference in the game was free throws.
Purdue shot 30 free throws, nearly doubling Oregon's total free throws of 17. The Boilermakers were efficient from the line, going 25-of-30 (83.3%), well above their season average of 71.3%.
Trey Kaufman-Renn led Purdue with 23 points and 11 rebounds. He was perfect from the free throw line, going 9-of-9 there. The double-double was only his second of the season, with the other coming in Purdue's last win over a ranked opponent.

While it wasn't efficient, Oregon shot better from the field (36%) and better from three-point range (24.1%) than Purdue. The free throw difference of 13 was a key factor in the Ducks falling just short.
Nate Bittle led the Ducks in scoring with 18 points. Jackson Shelstad (15) and Brandon Angel (10) were also in double figures.
Another key factor in the game was the difference in bench points. Purdue's bench accounted for 17 of its 65 points, while Oregon's bench scored just eight.

Purdue will not have to face a ranked opponent on the road until Feb. 11, a nice break in the schedule for the Boilermakers.
Oregon will also get a break in its schedule, as it does not face a ranked opponent until Feb. 5, when they travel to Ann Arbor and match up against No. 20 Michigan.
