WNBA legend Candace Parker predicts Caitlin Clark will lose All-Star teammate

There is a lot to look forward to in 2025 for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

After making the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade, the Fever elected to dismiss coach Christie Sides. They replaced her with the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year, Stephanie White.

Now, White will be leading a team that had three All-Stars in 2024, including the last two No. 1 picks, Clark and Aliyah Boston.

With the WNBA free agency negotiation period beginning on Tuesday, the Fever could look to make a big move to add to their roster. A fan-favorite for Indiana is Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally.

But the Fever may need to resolve their top priority, as their third All-Star, Kelsey Mitchell, is also a free agent. The Fever extended a core qualifying offer to Mitchell earlier this month. This means that if the former Ohio State Buckeyes star wants out of Indiana, she would have to negotiate a sign-and-trade.

But that didn't stop Candace Parker from predicting Mitchell to land with another team.

In an interview with B/R W Sports, the Los Angeles Sparks legend sat down and made her predictions on where some of the best free agents will land. Parker believes Mitchell will be heading to the Bay Area.

"I knew that was next," Parker said. "I think [Mitchell] end up in Golden State."

The Golden State Valkyries will have their inaugural season in 2025 and recently built their first roster in December's expansion draft. Adding a player like Mitchell would certainly leave the new team head over heels, but they would likely need to trade someone to acquire her.

One of the few potential options that could intrigue the Fever is guard Kate Martin, who was acquired by the Valkyries in the expansion draft. Martin spent her college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, and Clark would likely appreciate playing with her good friend once again.

Although Parker has one of the best basketball minds the WNBA has seen, it seems unlikely that her Mitchell to Golden State prediction will come true.
