If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. According to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., Philadelphia is likely to draft a first-round defensive tackle for the third time in four years, something Eagles fans certainly understand.
In his first mock draft of the year, Kiper believes the Eagles will win Super Bowl LIX by giving Philadelphia the last pick in the first round (No. 32) of the 2025 NFL Draft. He has them taking Michigan DT Kenneth Grant and based on recent history, he should do very well.
Michigan DT Kenneth Grant weighs 340 pounds.

First it was Jordan Davis, a 6-foot-6, 341-pound defensive tackle from Georgia with 4.78 speed arriving in Philadelphia as the 13th overall pick in 2022. While his numbers against the run have been worse than expected for a player with his size and quickness, Pro Football Focus gave him the second-best coverage grades of any interior defender in 2024.
Next was Jalen Carter, the first of two first-round picks for the Eagles in 2023. Carter is the motor that drives Philadelphia’s top-ranked defense and just earned his first Pro Bowl nomination. Occupied by double teams on most plays, Carter’s stats belie his talent as seen here against the Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs.
So how does Grant compare? At 6-foot-3 and 339 pounds, Grant is three inches shorter than Davis but 25 pounds heavier than Carter. He had 6.5 sacks in three years at Michigan and set career marks in tackles (32) and passes defended (five) last season.
Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings has concerns with his stamina, but believes Grant has “mold-breaking tools” and calls him “one of the best natural nose tackle prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft.” PFF obviously agrees by naming him the second-best defensive tackle in this year’s draft according to PFF and 19th-best prospect overall.
Davis will be a free agent in 2027, although the team has a club option in 2026. If the team decides to move on, Grant could be the "next man up" for a team that has always prioritized offensive and defensive lineman.
