Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has career night vs. Jazz

The Oklahoma City Thunder picked up their sixth win in their last seven games with a 123-114 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

The story of the night, though, was guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who went off for a career-high 54 points (17-of-35 FG, 17-of-18 FT) while adding eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks. It was the first 50-point game of his career and only the third time a Thunder player has scored 54 or more in the team's history.

It was the most points by a Thunder player since Russell Westbrook scored 51 in 2017 and only four points shy of the franchise record of 58 points, which was set by Westbrook and Fred Brown.

This 15-foot jumper with 1:28 remaining gave Gilgeous-Alexander his 50th point and put the Thunder in a more comfortable position up 119-110.

Gilgeous-Alexander was so dominant on the night that he had 41 points entering the fourth quarter. His previous career-high was 45 points, which he accomplished twice earlier this season against the Los Angeles Clippers and Indiana Pacers.

Considering he is averaging a team-high and league-best 31.5 points per game and also leads the team in assists (6.1 APG) and steals (2.1 SPG), his career night should come as no surprise. It is the sixth time this season that Gilgeous-Alexander has scored at least 40 points in a game.

Five of Oklahoma City's next seven games are at home, including the team's next outing against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday. If Gilgeous-Alexander keeps having his way like he did on Wednesday, he may not be through setting records.
