Columbus Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli picked the best time to earn his first career hat trick.
The second-year pro netted a treble in front of friends and family in Toronto as he led his team to a 5-1 win over the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.
Fantilli, an Ontario native, became the fourth-youngest player in team history to record his first three-goal game, prompting his mother in attendance to throw a hat onto the ice in celebration.

Fantilli was drafted third overall at the 2023 NHL Draft and has since become a staple in the Blue Jackets' starting lineup.
He reportedly had more than 80 family members and close friends present at Scotiabank Arena to watch his incredible achievement, emerging triumphantly from the locker room to greet them after the game.
The offensive burst Wednesday increased Fantilli's season total to 14 goals, ending a two-game point drought after he had been on a seven-game scoring streak.
It also gave him a new career high in the category, passing his 12-goal mark set in his rookie year last season. With one more point, he'll equal his all-time high there as well (27) and there's still roughly half a season left to play.
