Losing seems to be really impacting John Calipari at Arkansas

John Calipari has won a bunch as a college head coach. As of Thursday, he has a 867-270 all-time record since 1988, has been to multiple Final Fours and has even won a championship.

Love him or hate him, Calipari knows how to win basketball games, which is likely why this tough stretch of games he's had at Arkansas has been so tough on him.

The Razorbacks got on the winning side of things on Wednesday night with a 68-65 win over Georgia, but that win broke a five-game losing streak the Razorbacks were riding.

Things had gotten so bad for Calipari that he apparently had even apologized to his wife as well as Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek.

"I told my wife, I’m sorry I put you through this stuff. I told Hunter, I’m sorry I put you through this stuff. Told the fans, sorry I put you through this stuff,” Calipari said in the postgame (h/t On3). “But, you know what? Thinking about it for me, I’ve been so blessed my whole life. My whole life. People look at me and say, ‘How in the world?’ I can’t go crazy over a bump in the road. I can’t. I’ve been too blessed.”

That's the statement of a coach who is clearly feeling the difference between Arkansas and Kentucky. That's not to say the Razorbacks can't have the success that Calipari had with the Wildcats, but Coach Cal is clearly in a different environment than what he's used to.

"I want this to make me a better coach. I want this to give me some ideas of — this is when, when you win 30 in a row, which I’ve done a couple of times, but it’s a totally different feel than what we went through. So, this will be for me, and I told them, if it’s gonna make me a better coach going through this, it’s going to make them better players going through this, but it’s hard. You want to win every game. Come on. You know me as a coach and what I’ve done and what the expectations are the moment I step in… This is a good thing. I’m just happy I’m here. I want to say I’m happy I’m going through this, but I’m really not,” Calipari said.

Things aren't going to get any easier for Coach Cal. Up next is a good Oklahoma team on Saturday, then a massive matchup back in his old stomping grounds against No. 9 Kentucky on Feb. 1.

If he loses that one, things are going to start feeling really weird.
