Bob Myers, the architect of the Warriors dynasty that won four championships between 2015 and 2022, could soon be returning to a front-office position in the NBA.
According to The Ringer's Bill Simmons, there is a strong possibility of Myers replacing Daryl Morey as the 76ers' next president of basketball operations, given his close ties with franchise owner Josh Harris.
“You know Bob Myers helped Washington [Commanders] with the football team, right? He was on that advisory committee, and I just feel like he's looming with this Sixers thing,” Simmons said Friday on his podcast (h/t Crossing Broad). "There’s been some Bob Myers Philly buzz that I think has been building because I think he had a good experience with Josh Harris. If there is a fall guy, which we talked about earlier, it’s going to be Nick Nurse and Daryl Morey."

The talk of "a fall guy" for the 76ers has picked up steam in light of the franchise's disastrous 2024-25 campaign. The Sixers (16-27) currently find themselves 11 games under .500 with the realistic danger of not qualifying for the play-in tournament, let alone the playoffs.
Despite Simmons' report, there haven't been any rumblings of the 76ers firing Morey or Nurse from their jobs. Under Morey's leadership, the Sixers made the playoffs for four consecutive years (2020-21 to 2023-24) but never advanced past the second round. As for Nurse, the former Raptors head coach took charge of the 76ers last season and led the team to a 47-35 record followed by a first-round playoffs exit.
Will Myers be the executive who saves the 76ers franchise? Myers spent 11 years as the front-office head of the Warriors, during which time he drafted Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga and convinced Kevin Durant to sign as a free agent in 2016.
