AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am power rankings: Scottie Scheffler returns

Clark isn't in great form after missing the cut at The American Express, but it would be disrespectful to leave off the reigning champion who fired a course-record 60 in the third round last year. When he gets hot with the putter, there aren't many players who can keep up. 

8. Patrick Cantlay

Cantlay has been a model of consistency for the past eight months, as he hasn't finished worse than T25 since the Memorial Tournament in June. He also has a pristine track record at this tournament with four straight top-11 finishes. 

7. Sungjae Im

Im played well at windy Torrey Pines last week to pick up his second top-five finish in three starts this month. The South Korean isn't a great fit for Pebble Beach because he can struggle with his wedges, but he's playing too well to ignore. 

6. Ludvig Aberg

Aberg would be higher on this list, but he limped to the finish line at last week's Farmers Insurance Open after coming down with the flu. If he gets back to full health, the young star should like his chances after a runner-up finish here last season. 

5. Hideki Matsuyama

Matsuyama finished T71 in the 80-man field at last year's Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but we're expecting a much better performance a few weeks removed from his impressive win at The Sentry. 

4. Collin Morikawa

Morikawa hasn't played since his runner-up finish to Matsuyama in Hawaii. Pebble Beach is a great fit for his game because it deemphasizes driving distance and demands strong short-iron play. 

3. Rory McIlroy

We haven't seen McIlroy on the PGA Tour since the Tour Championship in September, but he won and notched four more top-five finishes on the DP World Tour since then. The World No. 3 is in superb form leading up to his season debut. 

2. Justin Thomas

Thomas has been on fire with his approach play and putting, which are the two biggest indicators of success at Pebble Beach. The American is getting closer and closer to his first win since 2022, and this could finally be the week. 

1. Scottie Scheffler

No surprise here. Scheffler pushed back his 2025 PGA Tour debut after suffering a hand injury while cooking Christmas dinner. That might be the only way to slow down the No. 1 player in the world, who's won nine of the last 16 tournaments he's played.
