Buffalo has placed former Maple Leafs forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel on waivers Monday afternoon, spelling the potential end of his time with the Sabres.
The Sabres are in the midst of another middling season, and although the Atlantic Division is getting tighter and tighter as each game passes, it's very unlikely the Sabres will get a chance to make the playoffs for the first time in over a decade.
But it seems even through their struggles, they have an expectation. For former Maple Leafs forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel, he didn't meet them. The Sabres waived Aube-Kubel on Monday, per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
The news was also relayed and confirmed by TVA Sports reporter Renaud Lavoie on X.
Aube-Kubel has only one goal and one assist in 19 games with Buffalo and was part of a trio of former Maple Leafs who signed with their highway rivals this summer along with James Reimer and Sam Lafferty.
More details to come.
