Lakers forward Anthony Davis has a historic night vs. Hornets

2020 NBA champion and nine-time All-Star Anthony Davis was a force to be reckoned with in the Los Angeles Lakers' 112-107 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.

Davis had 42 points, 23 rebounds and two blocks in the victory. With the sensational performance, Davis is the first Laker to have multiple 40-20 games since Shaquille O'Neal, per StatMuse. It was the fifth 40-20 game of Davis' career.

It did not take long for Davis to get started, either, after putting up 21 points (9-of-12 FG) and 11 rebounds in the first quarter. He joined Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only players with a 20-10 quarter in the play-by-play era.

Everything was clicking for Davis. This mid-range jumper gave him 12 straight buckets in a 39-point first quarter for the Lakers.

This was the fourth straight win for the Lakers (26-18). If Davis plays like he did on Monday, that winning streak will likely continue following his historic outing against Charlotte.
