If you are not tuning in to watch the Super Bowl itself, odds are you are eager to see which companies put together an ad for "The Big Game."
For some of them, those ads did not come cheap. According to multiple reports on Wednesday, at least 10 commercials scheduled to air during Super Bowl LIX have sold for $8M. While Fox declined to comment on the specifics for a 30-second ad, a commercial of that length went for around $7M last season on CBS.
The main reason for the "record pricing," as Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said in November, was due to fewer spots becoming available as the demand for an ad continued to increase.
Along with some additional ads from pharmaceutical companies and an increased focus on AI in some commercials this year, fans can expect to see familiar brands and companies like Anheuser-Busch, Meta, PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, Taco Bell and Uber Eats among others.
State Farm pulled its ad altogether to focus on the devastating California wildfires while Stellantis' Jeep and Ram brands are all that has currently been announced for automakers.
For those that are fans of the popular Budweiser ads, expect some familiarity in this year's commercial. As always, be prepared for several cameo appearances by celebrities as companies try to take that extra step to get their products or innovations some extra credibility and make them stand out that much more.
According to Nielsen, last year's Super Bowl on CBS drew 123,714,000 viewers while the most recent Super Bowl on Fox — Super Bowl LVII, also between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles — had 115,096,000 people watching. While some may not be as intrigued by the same matchup twice in three years, those numbers suggest viewership will likely be around 120 million, which puts these brief ads on full display in front of millions of people.
When each of these commercials take over our screens, regardless of the opinions they are sure to receive, some of them will be the most expensive ones to ever air during "The Big Game." As more people and their families gather to witness the game, commercials or both, the price range continues to increase for ads each year as these brands and companies compete with one another to leave a lasting impression. That appears to be on full display once again, albeit at a larger price.
Super Bowl LIX is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET from New Orleans on Fox and livestreamed for free on Tubi.
